The Aesthetic Surgeons charity initiatives

It has been a very busy year for The Aesthetic Surgeons and the three of us have travelled across the globe to work with facial charities, in developing countries.

Facing The World is a bespoke charity founded in the United Kingdom by Norman Waterhouse and Martin Kelly.  The charity now receives patients from all over the World for treatment of children with severe facial deformities from developing countries but also has an active exchange programme with hospitals in Vietnam.  Richard Young has recently been to Vietnam to teach and operate on a wide variety of children with facial conditions and also to monitor and follow-up the children who have been brought to the United Kingdom for treatment of more serious conditions.

Duncan and Norman have both been working with Operation Smile, a worldwide charity based in America which delivers care for children with cleft lip and palate in developing countries where there is no access to healthcare for children with these conditions.  Duncan went to Cambodia in March and spent ten days in Phnom Pen and Norman has recently been operating on a US Navy hospital ship moored off the southern coast of Nicaragua.

We will be posting some pictures of our respective missions in the near future.
